Well – the driver is finally out – and I can confirm that I can now recieve DVB-T & T2 channels simulatiously in MythTV, with no intervention required.
I got the latest drivers from TBS site, and installed them in the usual way :-
; Get new driver from TBS website cd /tbsinstall/new/ sudo wget http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/document/common/tbs-linux-drivers_v120212.zip sudo unzip tbs-linux-drivers_v120212 ; Extract driver tar from unzipped archive cd /tbsinstall/new/ sudo rm -rf linux-tbs-drivers sudo tar xjf linux-tbs-drivers.tar.bz2 cd /linux-tbs-drivers ; Install the driver sudo ./v4l/tbs-x86_64.sh sudo make sudo make install ; Reboot when done sudo shutdown -r now
I then had the following in dmesg:
37.124106] DVB: registering adapter 3 frontend 0 (TurboSight TBS 62x0 DVBT/T2 frontend)...
All that was needed was a quick rescan in mythtv-backend setup on my tuners to reveal the 4 new HD channels that I have been waiting for! I manually added them in their UK locations (50 – 54).
I have 2 x 6280 cards, (I purchased them before the quad tuner model was released!) and therefore 4 tuners, and I also virtualrec them, having 16 virtual tuners in total. I am therefore thinking that I will not need to “dedicate” a tuner to HD, and just let mythtv sort everything out..
Watching the channels via my frontend shows the good HD quality, and I have no dropouts or pixelating at the moment.. This looks good even on a 720p display that I desperately need to replace!
Now do I keep my 6921 Satellite card now that I can record all the HD channels?!!!
Cheers
A happy Mike
